Taking the oportunity to share great music from Suomi (Finland) vol 1


There is really a lot of good stuff coming from Finland that manages to stay under the radar, here I have gathered some nice examples and yes! more coming soon!




M.O.R,A - Mun jutut

Angry and powerful hardcore with two female vocalists, a mixture of old and new school straight from Helsinki.


Zen Cafe - Todella kaunis


Zen Café is a Finnish rock band that was founded in Turku in 1992. Their latest album Stop was released in 2006, after which the band began a long hiatus without officially disbanding.




Juno - Älä muuta mitään ft. la haka


Finnish rapper of Nigerian origin. enough said..enjoy!




Vesta - Valonsäteet


Vesta - a singer-songwriter from the Vuosaari neighborhood in Helsinki who brings some urban and international touch to Finnish-language pop music. Her very smooth and expressive voice suits perfectly for contemporary electronic sound and folk influences. Vesta -- might just be the next big thing in Finland, so seize the opportunity to see her before that!


Kingston Wall - Shine on me


A legendary psychedelic rock trio based in Helsinki, founded in 1987 but unfortunately disbanded in 1994, Their influences are noticeably of the LED ZEP/ JIMI HENDRIX kind but they did manage to bring something new to the "stoner rock" sound.


Thyrane - Crushing defeat of the triune godhead


Coming from Kemi, Thyrane makes raw, speedy, aggressive black metal packed full of double-kick drumming.


Värttinä - Emoton

Värttinä are the Crown Jewel of Finnish folk music scene. Their roots are in the Karelia Region of Finland, specifically in women's vocal traditions.

The band begun as a children’s project in the village of Rääkkylä near the Russian border in 1991, since then Värttinä has toured globally, building a reputation as one of the most inventive ensembles in the contemporary world music arena.




LARSKI7 - Rauhantuoja


LARSKI7 is an up and coming reggae and ragga artist based in east Helsinki, a promising start!.



Pekko Käppi & K:H:H:L: Mun vereni

Have you ever heard about Jouhikko?

The jouhikko is a traditional, two- or three-stringed bowed lyre, from Finland and Karelia, Russia. Its strings are traditionally of horsehair. The playing of this instrument died out in the early 20th century but has been revived and there are now a number of artists playing it, one of these artists is Tampere born Pekko Käppi musician, composer, producer, researcher and part-time teacher at the Sibelius Academy. He performs together with his band K:H:H:L, which stands in Finnish for ‘the bones of dead horses out of control’.
